TV Cancellations Suck! But Renewals Are What’s Happening!

The Red Pen is out, and the decisions are being made.  The networks are cutting the fat.  And you know what?  When your eating a steak, you need to keep some of the fat for the flavor.  That’s how I feel about some cancellations that have happened on TV.  But, on the other hand, I’m glad some things have been renewed for another life saving season.

First off is the Fox network.  My heart started beating again after wondering if they were gonna renew FRINGE for a 5th season.  Gladly, a few weeks ago, Fox decided to make it happen with an order for 13 episodes to make a 5th and final season.  Also, TOUCH has been spared the chopping block.  That doesn’t mean it’s skipped my personal chopping block.  I don’t know if it’s going to be a keeper for me.  Another Fox show that I Will continue to watch is THE NEW GIRL.  It is not Drop-Dead funny, but I love the quick banter on the show… and Deschanel is an adorable geek (she mentioned Cylon).  The show that didn’t make it (they announced this a couple of weeks ago) is ALCATRAZ.  I had stopped watching it, so no time wasted there.  HOUSE is in its final season, and THE FINDER won’t see the light of day after this finale.

NBC has canceled the only procedural cop drama that I’ve given the time to watch in a minute.  Of course, it also has alternate realities mixed in it.  I’m talking about the short-lived AWAKE.  I’ll never find out if Detective Britton will find the person(s) who caused the accident that killed his wife in one reality, and his son in another.  And I’ll never know what’s up with the 2 separate realities in the first place.  ARRRGGGHHH.  At least NBC has had the wisdom to keep GRIMM.  I still think Nick and Hank are a little on the dull acting side, but I’m loving the supernatural culture and plot building. The network is also keeping their Thursday night comedy lineup - OFFICE, 30 ROCK, PARKS AND COMMUNITY.

CBS has by far cut the least amount of shows in their lineup.  All of their comedies are still going strong, except for ROB.  Their collection of drama seems to be sticking it out also.  I don’t watch much on CBS.  They’re not partial to a lot of fantasy or Sci-Fi.  Maybe I’ll catch up to 2 BROKE GIRLS one weekend or two.

CW is hanging in with two of their supernatural dramas – THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and SUPERNATURAL.  But they decided Not to renew THE SECRET CIRCLE.  Probably too much supernatural teenage angst, being it’s just like VAMPIRE DIARIES.  I know my buddy Toby-Wan Kenobe will be sad that they canceled RINGER.  Poor Grown-up Buffy, I mean Sarah Michelle Geller.  Oh well, she had a good run from last fall.

Lastly ABC has kept ONCE UPON A TIME.  Even though they had the gall to kill off Cinderella’s Fairy God-Mother who was BLACK (an African-American, a Sista), I still enjoy watching the show and the different fairy-tails they portray each week.  The season Finale is on tomorrow.  Surprisingly, they already made a decision to renew SCANDAL.  That makes up a little for the God-Mother explosion thing ABC, but I still have my eye on you.  Truthfully, I’ll have to watch this show on the backend too.  One show that wont’ be coming back is MISSING.  Ashley Judd is just going to have to keep searching for her son indefinitely.   And for anyone that didn’t already know, THE RIVER isn’t coming back either.

That’s it for now.  I’ll keep checking for other shows.  Later.

I would like to know if V is returning?

Sorry Cookie. They canceled V a while ago. Falling Skies isn’t a great replacement, but it is an aliens vs. humans type show that comes on TNT. You might want to check it out.
