What would happen if somebody used your poems to start a crazy killing spree? Well, in this re-imagine of Edgar Allen Poe, the dark poet is put into an awkward position when a serial killer starts killing people according to his work. THE RAVEN stars John Cusack as our famous macabre writer and poet.
It doesn’t look awful, but my man Eric a.k.a El Camino brought up a point on our podcast, Geek Soul Brother Live, that Cusack didn’t look like he was playing a dark enough Poe. I agreed, adding that the film looked like it had the same tone as FROM HELL. I like the concept, even though it’s been done a zillion times. Isn’t there a show on TV now about a writer that runs around with a detective because initially somebody was using his material to kill? It’s called CASTLE and it stars a former Serenity Captain.
THE RAVEN hits theaters April 27 in the USA. I’ll check it out.
