Warner Bros just released this one. There isn’t much in it that we didn’t see before, but it does give you a sense of the total destruction and chaos that Bane is reeking on the City of Gotham. I was just telling my son that, in a superhero movie, you can always measure the hero by how tough and deadly the villain is. Until recently, Bane didn’t seem all that much of a threat, compared to the comic character. If Warner Bros included a shot of him juicing up, that would have elevated his ominous presence in the film for me. But this trailer gave me a sense of Bane as a home-grown terrorist threat that isn’t to be messed with.
And I have to say, Catwoman seems more like a frisky Batgirl than an expert thief. But I’ll hold back the judgements until I sit my butt right in the theater opening night and watch the whole film.
