Trailer Jive: SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN

So I’m missing my fairytale based show on TV.  ONCE UPON A TIME is over until the Fall.  And so is GRIMM.  I still have LOST GIRL, but that’s not at all the same.  Lucky for Geek Soul Brother, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN is premiering this coming weekend.  It’s definitely looking like a grownup version of the fairest of fairy tales.  I know many of my buddies are looking forward to seeing it also.

Basically, Snow White escapes from the evil queen.  But the queen hires a rough and tough huntsman to hunt her down and kill her (mean!).  As the story goes, the Huntsman has a change of what little heart he has, and helps Snow White learn how to fight back and take on the queen.

There isn’t much on imdb about Director Rupert Sanders (actually just this credit), but he is an accomplished commercial director, with work from companies like Nike, and games like Halo and Wolverine.  I always find it intriguing when big companies put properties into the hand of directors that are new to the big screen.  I have to say that the effects look great, but lets hope that’s not the only thing that’s great about this film.

Also, it’s nice to see two actors get out of their typecasts and do something kinda different.  Chris Hemsworth isn’t playing Goldie-locks with a Hammer, and miss  Kristen Stewart isn’t falling head over heels for some wolf cursed boy or the undead cool kid.  I’m looking forward to seeing her get her sword fighting on.  Stewart reminds me a little of Keira Knightley in King Arthur (2004).

Also starring as the Evil Queen is Charlize Theron, who has another movie coming out the weekend after this one – PROMETHEUS (YEAH!).

SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN premieres June 1st in theaters.
