SINISTER – Written and Directed by Scott Derrickson, (C. Robert Cargill also gets writing credit), the film stars Ethan Hawke, Juliet Rylance and James Ransone.
One lesson that I forgot to mention on last week’s GEEK SOUL BROTHER LIVE! is never look at film footage that you just happen to find.. in a creepy attic. But that’s just what Ethan Hawk’s character ends up doing. And it’s not even video footage, its old school 16mm film. As soon as you don’t see a happy family waving to the camera on-screen, cut the projector off, or be ready to deal with the evil you will have unleashed.
From the Official Website:
Ethan Hawke plays a true crime novelist who discovers a box of mysterious, disturbing home movies that plunge his family into a nightmarish experience of supernatural horror.
Well Ethan, I understand your passions, but you ought to have seen enough horror movies to know this was a bad move. But hopefully for the audiences, this story will be a good bucket of scary.
These are the same people who brought you PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and INSIDIOUS, which I thought was a creative PG-13 horror.
SINISTER comes out this weekend on October 12th.
