It’s only taken 73 years, but finally we get the answer to the question ‘Where did the Wizard of Oz come from?’ In a previous film James Franco lost his arm, but now he’s lost an entire reality, his own. Franco plays the Wizard, a man who is part magician part con-man, that gets transported through a wild storm to a land of real magic and wonder.
Sam Raimi directs this modern prequel of the characters from the original story THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ written by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W. W. Denslow. Raimi has given us SPIDER-MAN, and the EVIL DEAD, and he’s even given us the Black Super-hero TV Show M.A.N.T.I.S. (for which he gets mad Geek Soul Brother Points). But now we get to see how he handles a children / family film. I’m curious how the film will turn out. It could be another ALICE or it could be a WILLY WONK-WONK-WONKA. Who knows.
Mila Kunis plays Theodora, or her more common title – The Wicked Witch of the West. Yeah Mila, enough of the cute stuff, be evil.
OZ, THE GREAT AND POWERFUL tornadoes into the theaters March 8, 2013 as of this post.
