I’ve been watching TERRA NOVA since it started. Not a bad show, although it’s taking its time to get to the point. Still, I’m a patient Geek, so I’ll give it some time to mature.
They did step up the drama in this episode by having the two main forces of Conflict – Commander Taylor and Mira – have to work together to survive a night in the jungle. Meanwhile, they reveal who the spy is in the camp (to us, not the characters) and why they are spying in the first place.
Stephen Lang plays Taylor, and I think he fits the role much more than his character in Avatar (it’s the same, but different). Christine Adams started out that typical ‘Tough Black Woman Leader’ but some revealing showed her character to have some depth. The only trouble with a role like that is… there isn’t much room to work your acting chops. She does play it a little flat to me, but she has a mean left hook!

The Buddy Buddy thing is pretty typical of this kind of show, with two opposing forces having to team up in some way. It gives a chance to see both sides of the story and why people are doing what they are doing. Another tidbit of info that came out of this was that Mira is nervous about Taylor’s son also. He’s the guy that’s trying to make the time portal send people back to the future. Watch back episodes if you don’t know, I don’t want to spoil it. At some point The Sixers and Terra Nova will probably have to join forces to fight the true evil – Corporate Greed… Occupy Terra Nova!
