Drum Roll please! The final Scream-A-Day for 2011 is the Classic Stephen King Horror Story - THE SHINING.

I know you’re wondering why I didn’t pick John Carpenter or Rob Zombie’s Halloween. Well, I didn’t want to go with an obvious choice. And of course there are MORE scary movies out there, but THE SHINING has some qualities that make it a worthy choice for Halloween Movie Night.
Seeing Jack Nicholson slowly spiral into homicidal insanity, and the worry that turns into sheer Terror as Shelley Duvall tries to get away, was true Scream-Poetry that was crafted by the deft directing of Stanley Kubrick. But the most memorable thing of this movie was Little Danny Torrence, played by Danny Lloyd, being effected by the spirits of the house. That scene where Danny is saying REDRUM, REDRUM in that 6-year-old creepy voice, or the swank hotel hallway filling with blood, left its indelible mark on pop horror culture at the time. Nicholson’s performance was spectacular, and the surprise ending was great!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this Scream-A-Day series as much as I have. One of the things I love to do is introduce people to classic movies and television, and also talk about the new stuff with geek fervor. So to all of my geek brothers and sisters, enjoy your “Dressing Up in Scary Costumes, Threatening People for Candy” Day. Happy Halloween!

I remember that trailer represented every fear I had as a little lad. The whole blood flood (FBlood) was serious…Good call.

That much blood was just Unnatural in anybody’s book.
