My apologies my Geek Soul Family. Going to the NY Comic-Con whooped me sideways. I didn’t have much time to post on Saturday evening, let alone Sunday. But here is my attempt to set things right.
Saturday’s Scream-A-Day is the recent Joss Whedon / Drew Godderd horror flick to end the myth of all horror flicks – CABIN IN THE WOODS. If you want to read my complete review you can check it out HERE.
Godderd directed this monster mashup which starred Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, and Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford who I guess are equivelent to program producers, like in a TV show. But this wasn’t a TV show, even though parts of the film turned into a spectator sport.
Five college friends go on vacation. And what better way than to spend it in the woods, in a cabin? It’s all good; everbody is acting pretty chill. But then things start happening which first put the gang at an unease, and then in the throws of terror. But what’s behind the horrific ordeal that’s putting these kids through one deadly moment after another?
Truthfully, you can’t talk much about this film (that shook the horror genre up) without giving away too much plot. Just like the advertisements kept things back, I’ll not ruin a perfectly good horror gem like this. I will say this to those that haven’t watched it. CABIN IN THE WOODS was extremely fun for guys and gals that grew up in the 80s with Jason, Michael, Zombies and more.
One spoiler – if you watched my previous Scream-A-Day featuring THE EVIL DEAD, then you should notice a particular Cabin that they used in CABIN IN THE WOODS. Whedon and Goddard gave serious tribute to all sorts of movies from back in the day.
For all of you that have seen it, tell what you think.
