Scream-A-Day No. 20 – CREEPSHOW

Today’s Scream-A-Day was a movie that was the concoction of a terrific horror duo – Stephen King and George A. Romero.  I give you – CREEPSHOW.

This movie was actually a collection of Horror shorts that gave homage to EC Comic’s horror tales.  The creators of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and CARRIE  definitely caught the feel of the old comics, especially with each story introduced by a young boy secretly reading one of the classic comics.   It’s an early 80′s movie, but CREEPSHOW has some scary yet fun stories to be sure.

George Romero is always willing to have fun with his horror, and CREEPSHOW has plenty of fun.  It’s a classic film, based on some classic comic material.  EC comics has the historical infamy of being the reason for the creation of the Comic Code.  It was the McCarthy version of a comic witch hunt, and it shut EC’s production down.  Thankfully, artist like Romero and King were willing to bring things like this back to life.
