Robert Rodriguez doing Live-Action Fire and Ice

Earlier this week, THR talked about Robert Rodriguez’s plans to remake the 1983 Animation classic FIRE AND ICE.  His plans are already in motion with a script that he has almost completed and some preproduction stuff he’s playing with.  Rodriguez stated in his interview with THR that he wanted to capture the look of the original animation, which was visually conceived by Frank Frazetta, the late legendary fantasy artist.

Ralph Bakshi produced and animated the original Fire and Ice.  He used a technique called Rotoscoping to capture real life movements for the animation.  Along with Frank Frazetta’s character design and illustrated backgrounds, the film was a stunning achievement in the realm of Fantasy movies.

Rodriguez hopes to move forward with the project right after he finishes SIN CITY 2: A DAME TO KILL FOR, which should be coming out 2013.  I don’t know how he will do it, but I hope he will be able to capture the same magic that was in the original.  I’m just wondering where Rodriguez is going to find a well-known actress that’s willing to play the role of Teegra wearing this:

I will be keeping up with the development of this one.  In the mean time, check out the 2 disc DVD set, which features a doc about Frank Frazetta, or stream it if you can.  You can also check out my Flashback Friday Post on the original HERE.  And don’t forget that Rodriguez is doing a MACHETE sequel called MACHETE KILLS, also scheduled for 2013.
