Will WILL Win the Weekend? MEN IN BLACK 3 vs. AVENGERS

I certainly think Will will win.  MEN IN BLACK 3 shouldn’t have a problem pulling in the lion’s share of audiences this weekend.  Truthfully, I don’t believe Will Smith has lost any of his fan base.  And the plot of “Agent J going back in time to save K from being assassinated in the past” is a pretty good one.

The Avengers made over $55 million this past weekend.  Most likely it will make at least $20 million this weekend.  But will MIB3 be able to make more than that?  My guess is yes, probably $40 to $65 Million opening weekend sounds about right to me.

The only other movie that might scoop up a little ticket sales is Chernobyl Diaries.  But I don’t think it will make a big splash.  Then again, you never can tell about low budget horror movies.  Their box office tends to surprise people.  Look at that awful Devil Inside.

Still, The Avengers had a good run.  I even plan on seeing it again before it leaves the theaters.  Men in Black is a little out of my age group, but like most of the family comedies, I’ll try to see it, at least so I can review it.  And I don’t mind supporting geek soul brother Will.

MIB3 stars Will SmithTommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin as young Agent K, Emma ThompsonAlice Eve and Jemaine Clement as Boris the Animal

MEN IN BLACK 3 comes out this Friday, May 25.  Make sure you have your special black glasses so you don’t forget.

lol…try 80 – 100 million for MIB3′s opening weekend. I’m sorry but you’re way off. 40 – 65 is just crazy low and not realistic based on the hype surrounding the movie. This is a fairly anticipated flick with one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood now.

You might be right D, but I’m just wondering about the lack of advertising the movie has done. Still, it should be a good film.
