Over 40 years after his first release in the mid-70s Peabo Bryson is still going strong with ‘Stand For Love’ produced by legendary duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The songs tackle the familiar themes of love and relationships that have been a mainstay for Byson over the years and this set combines old-school sensibilities with a modern day finish. The result is a strong, 9 track offering that will please his fans as well as those into smooth, timeless, polished soul. The funky swagger of ‘All She Wants To Do Is Me’ is offset by the beat ballad ‘Love Like Yours And Mine’ while the emphatic title track ‘Stand For Love’ is a powerful, dramatic slab of vintage modern soul – hints of elements of Betty Wright’s ‘The Movie’ come through. The smooth ballad ‘Here For You’ is classic Peabo while the mellow ‘Looking For Sade’ has that Café Del Mar guitar vibe running throughout.
