Common, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins are August Greene, a collaborative project that grew out of the trio crafting Common’s 11th studio album and it’s hip hop at its core with jazz orbiting the entire set. The mellow ‘Aya’, the skittering ‘The Time’, the retake of Sounds Of Blackness’ ‘Optimistic’ and the angular jazz are the more jazz/soul tracks while the more lyrical, jazzy hip hop cuts dominate. Will appeal to fans of Tribe Called Quest/Common as well as those into hip hop with a strong jazz touch.
