This vinyl only release is a much needed coupling of the sold out first two volumes of Trudi’s Songbook. Fans of Kamazi Washington will revel in the funky edged jazz and spaced out funk that the combo cook up. The building, sprawling ‘Moonlight Woman’ has a hancock feel in places while ‘Elephant And Castle’ has a pacey Latin Rumba tempo. ‘Trudi’s Mood’ is a delightfully laid back, stop start slab of funky jazz while ‘Prayer For Yuseef’ allows the band to indulge in their spiritual side. ‘Where Are You Now’ has a poly-rhythmic feel with a wiry sax snaking throught while ‘The Camel’s Back’ is drenched in moments of minimal quiet and full on free expression. The brilliant version of Herbie Hancock’s incredibly beautiful ‘Butterfly’, is taken at a slightly faster pace than the original whilst still retaining it’s charisma. The self penned tracks include ‘Tisbury Truckin’, ‘Song For Christopher’ and ‘Charlotte Emma Victoria’ which all start slow and build tempo and intensity as they progress.
