Superb, ever in-demand album from L.V Johnson that featured a host of talent in its making including Willie Henderson, Wales Wallace, Barbara Acklin and Monk Higgins among many others. The scarcity of the original probably means that despite the quality on show it fell short of being the success it deserved to be. The lilting opener ‘We Belong Together’ contrasts with the breezy modern soul gem ‘I Love You I Want You’ while the mid tempo ‘I Don’t Really Care’ is a sublime stepper. Most of the tracks were penned by Johnson except the cover of ‘Try A Little Tenderness’ and a great, husky voiced version of ‘The Whole Town’s Laughing At Me’. Brilliant.
