Colin Curtis presents Volume 4 of his Jazz Dance Fusion series, with another 26 mainly contemporary outings dotted with a few lesser heritage tracks for the dance floor. Trumpeter Bill Ortiz is joined by Azar Lawrence on sax and Brian Jackson on Piano for a breakneck version of Eddie Henderson’s ‘Fusion/Noche Cubana’ heavy vibes ! GeeW cover Rose Royce classic ‘Still In Love’ jazz dance style ft Navasha Daya on vocals. Tom Funk’s The Sultans Swing ’46 To Somewhere’ grooves along nicely. The music’s heritage is represented by Charro Band De Emilo Guerrero 79 Latin funk version of Brass Construction ‘Movin,’ Alfredo Dias Gomes’s driving Samba De Negro from the PM label, and two spoken word laid back grooves from Mary Greer Mudiku Black Fire sessions, ft Plunky Branch. Jacques Schwarz-Bart Latin dancer ‘Mende’ is another highlight on this varied excellent compilation.
