Barbara’s great sophisticated soul 1973 album was again produced in Philly. It includes her brilliant answer song to Billy Paul’s classic ‘Me And Mr Jones’ , 9 mins of classic Philly soul. The extended 8 minute version of ‘Bed And Board’ transforms a good ballad into a masterpiece. ‘Who’d ever think’, ‘Caught In The Middle’ and the bonus track ‘Child Of Tomorrow’ are great orchestrated ballads. ‘World War 3’ is 10 minutes of string laden funky Philly social commentary magic. Great album that still sounds very fresh from an under appreciated singer.
