Under The Influence Vol.7 Compiled By Winston
£15.99
Format: CD
The seventh volume of this highly respected series finds us peering into the treasure trove of a more obscure but no less respected collector, namely Winston. This 22-track double CD set brings together disparate styles, with Mary Gold’s indie disco banger ‘Dancing’ mixing it with the heavy funk rarity of The Rappers’ ‘Funky Juice’. Betty Padgett’s ‘Sugar Daddy’ has a curious mix of soul, island and jazz that has kept it indemand for years, Johnnie Vibes Lambert’s New Jersey disco number ‘Can’t Stop Dancin’ is a solid dancer, the full 10+ min version of Are & Be’s rare ‘If There Is No Struggle’ is included while Juice’s 1983 boogie effort ‘Mercy On Me’ is another massive indemander. So much to find here – this will no doubt have collector’s hunting down originals while others will enjoy the voyage of discovery in this haul of obscurities and rarities.
