‘Song For My Father’ became Horace Silver’s most commercially successful album for Blue Note. The original album comprised two sessions with two entirely different quintets. Two tracks ‘Calcutta Cutie’ and ‘Lonely Woman’ feature the group that Silver had for the five years prior to the recording date of October 31 1963. The other four tracks including ‘Song For My Father’ were laid down on October 1964 with a new group that include tenor maestro Joe Henderson.
