One of America’s most successful songwriters, Brenda Russell recorded this album in1979. At the time, it was a breath of fresh air. Brenda’s delicate vocals suited the mood of the album and the set became famous for the gorgeous song ‘In The Thick Of It’. Other strong cuts include ‘Way Back When’, the opener ‘So Good So Right’ and ‘You’re Free’. Brenda also wrote ‘If Only For One Night’ later covered by Luther Vandross – it is a fine song. The album was rejuvenated by the sample of ‘A Little Bit Of Love’ and became a 2 Step classic partly as a consequence.
