Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings have made a great Christmas Holiday Party album featuring their raw funky soul sound. There are three new originals the upbeat ‘8 Days (Of Hanukkah)’ , ‘Ain’t No Chimneys in The Projects’ and beat ballad ’World of Love’, plus some very different arrangements of traditional Christmas songs ‘Funky Little Drummer Boy’ , ‘White Christmas’ , the ballad ‘Please come home for Christmas’ and the instrumental ‘God rest ye merry gents’. This is up to the standard of, if not better than the Christmas albums James Brown recorded in the late 60’s.
