Steppin’ Stone is a great compilation of rare and previously unreleased tracks from the vaults of XL and Sounds of Memphis studios.
Highlights include Willie Walker ‘If you never see me’ and ‘Run around’, William Bollinger ‘I won’t have to cry no more’, George Jackson ‘ How can I get next to you’ and the Jacksonians version of Donny Hathaway ‘I love you more than you’ll ever know’. This is classic Southern Soul from Memphis of a high quality and its amazing these tracks weren’t released in the 70s when they were recorded.
