Fourplay continue to deliver highly polished, smooth Jazz grooves that range from delicate mid-tempo tunes like ‘Let’s Touch The Sky’ to Bob James like light Jazz Funk such as ‘3rd Degree’. Try also the percussive ‘Pineapple Getaway’ with its jaunty clipped rhythm. Teddy P’s ‘Love TKO’ receives a smoothish Soul arrangement with vocalist Ruben Stoddard. Anita Baker guests on the gorgeous lilting ‘You’re My Thrill’ and the third vocal track ‘I’ll Still Be Loving You’ has bass playing member Nathan East on vocals. Add the jazzier tribute to Hank Jones ‘Gentle Giant’ on which East and Bob James are in fine form and you get a well rounded set that will appeal to the group’s fans.
