Boney James returns with his first truly smooth album in a few years. Tracks like ‘Sunset Boulevard’ and the gently funky ‘Powerhouse’ are Boney at his smooth best. The mellow ‘Mari’s Song’ is sublime. James adds a couple of vocal, soulful tunes such as the sleek ‘Missing You’ and the more contemporary ‘Make Of Love’ featuring Raheem De Vaughn. The Floacist guests on ‘The Midas’ ‘Batucada’ is a reunion with Rick Braun. ‘The Beat’ is Boney James best set in ages.
