Tenor saxophonist Harold Land recorded ‘Choma’ – a deep and heavy slice of spiritual styled Jazz in 1971. Accompanied by Bobby Hutcherson, and with Reggie Johnson outstanding on acoustic bass – check ‘Up And Down’ for proof – ‘Choma’ is a weighty set. ‘Choma’ and ‘Black Caucus’ are two elongated and intense pieces. Strong album that is definitely worth checking.
