Norman Connors first two albums together on a 2 on 1 cd feature a stella line up incl Herbie Hancock, Eddie Henderson, Gary Bartz, Cecil McBee and Stanley Clarke. ‘Dance of Magic’ from 1972 features the deep heavy Pharoah Sanders influenced Spiritual Jazz 21 minute long title track. ‘Morning change’ and ‘Blue’ are lighter but equally beautiful. ‘Dark of Light’ from ’73 ft Dee Dee Bridgewater ethereal vocals on the long title track and ‘Butterfly Dreams’. ‘Laughter’ and the intense ‘Black Lightnin’ are also strong tracks. These are easily the deepest and most Jazz based of Connors albums.
