Excellent 1976 Jazz Fusion album recorded in Stockholm by the Finnish keyboard player Olli Ahvenlathi. ‘The Poet’ is a nice mid tempo track with a deep bass line and lovely flugelhorn playing from Markku Johansson. ‘Sunday Stuff’ is funkier and deeper putting the 9 piece band through their paces. ‘Sambatown’ is a lively and uplifting uptempo bossa groove with a trombone solo from Bertil Strandberg. The album’s killer track though is the Jazz dancer ‘Grandma’s Rocking Chair’ a percussive shifter with strong punchy horns and a memorable riff. Really good album to discover.
