From 1981 ‘Love Keys’ was Eddie Kendricks’ sole outing for Atlantic Records. ‘I Need Your Lovin’ sets the tone for much of the album with spacious, full production values particularly in the two covers of Lou Courtney’s ‘I’m In Need Of Love’ and ‘I Don’t Need Nobody Else’. The Holland, Dozier, Holland penned ‘You Can’t Stop My Loving’ is another highlight on an album mixed with uptempo numbers and mellow ballads – ‘Never Alone’ and ‘Looking For Love’ being the best of the slow burners.
