‘Solid’ from 1976 was Michael Henderson’s debut album, recorded in Detroit for Buddah and kicks off with the funky, stop-start groove of ‘Make Me Feel Better’. ‘Let Love Enter’ hints at the kind of atmospheric, silky soul that Henderson would become loved for on later releases, while the title track showcases the bassist’s playing on a winding, funked out instrumental. ‘Let Love Enter’ has a breezy West Coast feel to it. Varied album that mixes ballads with heavy funk grooves and mellow soul moments.
