David Ebo took over from Teddy Pendergrass as lead singer of Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes when they joined ABC in 1976 and recorded the Reaching For The World album at Sigma Studios. The title track is a typically Philly ‘Social lyric’ dancer. The swaying string laden mid tempo groover ‘After You Love Me Why Do You leave me’ is the album’s standout, a superb track featuring Sharon Paige. ‘Big Singing Star’ a jaunty groove track, The Hostage an uptempo dancer and ‘Stay Together’ a slow ballad, are also strong. Nice album.
