Indigo Jam Unit have been one of the best Japanese Jazz bands for nearly a decade and their 9th studio album ‘Milestone’ will only enhance the reputation of the quartet (piano, double bass, and twin drummers/percussionist). ‘Zeus’ starts with heavy double drums and then really grooves once the piano and bass kick in. ‘Hunt’ is another high energy track mainly bass and drums topped by piano chords, ‘Watercolour’ has more melody but over a kicking drumbeat and ‘Milestone’ is another swinging jazz track. ‘Corazon’ adds a touch of Latin, whilst ‘Trick’ is more funky, and ‘Windscreen Rain’ is mellower. One of their best albums.
