As the title says this 24 track collection is full of classy-end, atypical Northern Soul tracks that have proven popular in recent times. With shifting stylistic traits the two dozen cuts here vary between the funky edged ‘Lover Man’ by The Soul Brothers, to the sublime ‘That Same Old Feeling’ by Detroit’s The Volumes. Mel Davis’ ‘Just Another Smile’ reflects to way funkier tracks have permeated Northern Soul dancefloors over the last 10 years, similarly with The Webb People’s , while Dorando Pullman’s ‘How I Got Over’ is another winner at the funky end of the spectrum. Traditional Northern fan are served well with the likes of I ‘Can’t Get Hold Of Myself’ by Clifford Curry and ‘It’s All In The Way (You Look At It Baby)’ from Mousie & The Traps. Big Joe Turner’s swaggering ‘Two Loves Have I’ is a great addition. Good set.
