Lonnie Liston Smith’s followed up his groundbreaking Expansions album with the Visions of a New World set in 1975 retaining the core of his band. ‘A Chance for Peace’ is a really funky slab of concious Jazz Funk , with a heavy bass line and a message even more relevant now than 40 years ago, featuring his brother Donald on vocals. ‘Visions of a new world’ is jazzier and more percussive but still really funky. There are some lovely laid back cuts like ‘Love Beams’, ‘Devika’, ‘Sunset’ and ‘Summer Nights’ which Another strong Lonnie Liston album.
