Cameo had that rolling, hard boogie funk sound down to a tee and these two 1980 releases – ‘Cameosis’ and ‘Feel Me’ – both serve to demonstrate their slick, full sound to the max. ‘Cameosis’ has a driving groove underpinned by that wiry b-line and lots of busy percussion, while the album produced the R&B hits ‘Shake Your Pants’ (also included as a 7” version bonus track) and the mellow stepper ‘We’re Going Out Tonight’. The ballads ‘Why Have I Lost You’ and ‘I Care For You’ show a less frantic, throwaway side to the group. ‘Feel Me’ carries on in a similar vein with a blend of hard funky dancers ‘Throw It Down’ and the R&B hit ‘Keep It Hot’ and the uptempo ‘Is This The Way’ being the picks while the title track ‘Feel Me’ is a wonderful mellow soul track. Two strong albums on one CD.
