Smooth Jazz keyboardist Brian Simpson returns for his third album, 5 years after the acclaimed ‘South Beach’ set of 2010. Funky smooth Jazz abounds as ever and the opener ‘One Of A Kind’ features the snaking sax of Grace Kelly, while Najee’s meandering flute graces the title track ‘Out Of A Dream’. Dave Koz appears on the mellow ‘When I Say Your Name’ while Norman Brown’s clean guitar lines smoulder over the gentle ‘Just One Wish’. ‘San Lorenzo’ has a Bossa vibe complimented by the Spanish guitar feel courtesy of Marc Antoine. Maysa sings on the only vocal track on the set, the war, tender ‘Rio Sway’ while trumpeter Maurice Brown (played with Roy Hargrove among others) gives an extra dimension to the popping finale ‘Nightfall’. Clear cut, well produced and executed set that will appeal to smooth jazz and Simpson fans alike.
