Veteran Fusion keyboard maestro Jeff Lorber returns with a typically Jazz Funk influenced set ‘Step It Up’ that is infused with gentle Funk. Co-produced by Jeff with help from the Yellowjackets bass player Jimmy Haslip, the album is a collection of Smooth Jazz orientated tunes like ‘Get Up’ and ‘Mustang’. Try also the funkier ‘Arecibo’ and ‘Right On Time’ as well as the bluesy ‘Deep Green’ and the finale ‘Step It Up’. Lorber is featured strongly but the horn section deserves a mention too.
