Third album from Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators and arguably their best: the standard of songwriting and musicianship continues to strengthen. The breezy northern soul of ‘One In A Million’ is full of positivity and joy, ‘Let’s Communicate’ has an infectious bubbling guitar line with some great colour changes, shading dark and light, ‘Together We Climb’ is a punchy dancer while ‘Paint Me In A Corner’ is a stomper that stays in the ears long after it ends. The breezy flute lead instrumental funk of ‘Bad Vibrations’ and the afro-jazz-funk of ‘Vulture’s Prayer’ spotlight the band while the slow soul of ‘Open Sky’ and ‘Angel’ are excellent. So good!
