Originally released in 1972 this ground breaking album has long been revered as one of the best examples of so called Ethio-Jazz and it’s hard to argue with that. Largely laid back in feel, tracks like ‘Mulatu’, ‘Mascaram Sebata’ and ‘Kasfalefhut Hulu’ are rich with atmosphere while the driving funk of ‘Munaye’ builds and builds. ‘Chifara’ is another highlight with a real sense of exploration going on. Great stuff – one to fully absorb.
