Third solo album from Fourplay bassist Nathan East, ‘Reverence’ kicks off with the laid back, lush and rich ‘Lover’s Holiday with Phillip Bailey on vocals before the funky fusion of the EWF style ‘Lifecycle’ turns up the tempo. Yolanda Adams guests on the stripped back ballad ‘Feels Like Home’, Kirk Whalum lends his sax to the funky cover of ‘Higher Ground’, Chick Corea’s agile keyboard playing graces the pacey foot tapper ‘Shadow’ while the popping, Jazzy soul of ‘Why Not This Sunday’ has an infectious groove topped by the effortless vocals of Rueben Studdard. Also check the breezy Latin rhythms of Elevenate’ and the swinging cover of ‘The Mood I’m In’ with Nikki Yanofsky on vocals.
