Tribe Records was a label dedicated to Spiritual Jazz based in Detroit, many of whose artists were session musicians for Motown. ‘Message From The Tribe’ was the label’s debut LP. ‘Angela’s Dilemma’ is suitably righteous piece of Spiritual Jazz divided into instrumental and vocal parts. ‘How Do We End This Madness’ is also divided into inst/voc and equally spiritual though funkier thanks to a wicked bassline. ‘Beneficent’ is another funky Jazz groove.
