1976 album for Strata-East, ‘Regeneration’ was label owner Stanley Cowell’s final solo release on the imprint and kicks off with the gorgeous soul-jazz killer ‘Trying To Find A Way’: spacey keys and a strutting B-line blend with wonderful vocal duet that has hints of Jon Lucien. ‘The Gehmbre’ is a more stripped back experimental spiritual/free jazz jam while the ponderous ‘Travelin’ Man’ utilises a broad palette of influences from African to Far Eastern in a hypnotic slice of spiritual jazz blues. ‘Lullabye’ closes out this seven track album in expansive, dreamy style with glistening strings and a languid double bass giving an airy backing to the vocal duet between Cowell and the obscure but talented Kareema.
