Originally released in 1976 ‘Spaceark Is’ was the follow up to their self-titled full length from the previous year and kicks off with the superb, bittersweet ‘Sweet Hitch Hiker’ that has a similar slightly ominous feel to their classic ‘Welcome To My Door’. The gentle beat ballad ‘Take Her Out Dancing’ again showcases the strong songwriting and ability to lay down a memorable melody, ‘Ja More Mon Amore (I Love My Love)’ blends spacey vibes with jazz and funk effortlessly, ‘Phantom Lover’ is almost a companion piece to ‘Sweet Hitch Hiker’ – it utilises similar techniques but has a more soaring, cosmic groove – while the emphatic, climactic ‘Each Song’ grows and builds to a crescendo. Also check the slower, mellow ‘Sexy Lady’. Superb album virtually impossible on original.
