Here are a few News items that caught Geek Soul Brother’s eye the past couple days…
WOULD DREW GODDERD BE A PERFECT SUPERHERO MOVIE DIRECTOR? – Here’s an interview from Collider.com with Drew Goddard, where he talks about Cabin’s Success, his other projects, and what kind of real geek he was growing up. Steve ‘Frosty’ Weintraub tried to coax Goddard into saying that he would do Daredevil, but Goddard wasn’t biting.
MARVEL AND ABC MIGHT PRODUCE A TV SHOW IN THE AVENGERS UNIVERSE - deadline.com received word from Marvel that they are pursuing ideas of featuring their content on the ABC network. They responded that it will be in the Avengers Universe, but no characters from the Movie(s). Nothing definite yet, but one of the ideas could revolve around a high concept Cop show. Personally, that would be pretty cool, especially if it was a S.H.I.E.L.D. based project.
DEATHSTROKE, CHINA WHITE, AND NOW DEADSHOT ARE TAKING ON ‘THE ARROW’ – superherohype.com and greenarrowtv.com are reporting that Deadshot will be joining the New CW’s ARROW series premiering this fall. In fact, China White will be in episode 2 and Deadshot should be appearing in the third. This show is already looking better than Smallville to me.
AMC CANCELS THIRD SEASON CALL FOR ‘THE KILLING’ – TV Guide says that AMC announced their cancellation of ‘THE KILLING’ this past Friday. Production company Fox Television Studios said they were proud of the acting and writing of the show, but had to come to a difficult decision. All may not be done for the crime drama as they might be shopping it around for new life somewhere else.
J.J. ABRAMS SAYS ‘EARTHQUAKE’ IS A REMAKE IN NAME ONLY – deadline.com also reports exclusively that Abrams and Universal has secured Dustin Lance Black to script the disaster film project EARTHQUAKE, which Abrams says is only connected with the 1970′s original in title and subject only. My thing is, how different can you make an earthquake movie. It’s a movie.. about an earthquake!
