What are some of the most disturbing horror films you have seen? I’m sure it wasn’t PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4. I reviewed it in this week’s film episode of GEEK SOUL BROTHER LIVE!, but it just didn’t do it for me. What did give me and the GSB Crew the willies were the choices of films (and a couple TV shows) we talked about. We found out that Shu-pocalypes can be more scared of sound than what she sees, and that you shouldn’t tell your 7 year old daughter not to read Stephen King, because she will surely read it. Toby mentions his favorite disturbing horror movie ever (again). El Camino brings us back to the 80s. The Private lets us know of his twisted Film Studies Teacher. And MDawg gives us a ‘What The?’ moment when he drops SUPERMAN on us as his choice. Luckily, he explains himself before he gets thrown off the show. Of course Geek Soul Brother lists some disturbing film choices of his own.
I listed most of what we talked about below so you Geek brothers and sisters can go back and check things out. But like I said on the podcast, these films are very disturbing, so be warned (and don’t judge us).
NEWS this week:
- Iron Man 3 Trailer
- Steven Colbert wants to be in a Hobbit movie
- James Cameron still not thinking about Battle Angel
- Mark Wahlberg in talks for Transformers 4
El Camino – HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, PROM NIGHT, HOUSE OF WAX
oby Wan-Kenobi – EXORCIST, ANTI-CHRIST, SLEEP AWAY CAMP
The Private - DAWN OF THE DEAD (SNYDER), EXORCIST, TETSO THE MECHANICAL MAN
Shu-Pocalypes / Illuminous – IT, and the SOUND EFFECTS from WAR OF THE WORLD, not the visuals, the Sound. And PAN’S LABYRINTH
MDawg – NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST., EVENT HORIZON, THE RING, THE BIRDS, and SUPERMAN THE MOVIE takes us out of the conversation.
And finale, some of my choices were MASTERS OF HORROR – JENNIFER AND IMPRINT, JACOB’S LADDER, Tokyo Three Extremes, Prince of Darkness (John Carpenter), and others. Takashi Miike was the director that I was trying to think of when mentioning IMPRINT. The other film he did was ICHI THE KILLER, also a disturbing film. Lucky for the Crew I didn’t mention the most disturbing film I’ve ever seen in my life, and it wasn’t even horror. Nor will I tell you brothers and sisters, because somethings just shouldn’t be seen. On that note, I hope you enjoy the episode. Let me know what movies ended up getting to you the same way these got to us.
