What Should Future ‘AVENGERS’ Movies Hold?

This is a piece by my soul brother Jon (known as The Private on the Podcast).  What would you geek brothers and sisters like to see done with The Avengers characters and stories?  Here is Big Jon’s thoughts….

The Avengers is not even out yet in North America, and people are already speculating what movies Marvel will put out, what they want to see, with what characters… blah, blah, blah, blah, BLAH!

With that, I am throwing in my two cents. The following are the 5 things I eventually want to see appear in future Avengers movies… if there is one (remember, kids, the world might still end on December 21):

Please note: These are not in any order. If they were, I’d have Geek Soul Brother smack me senseless for spending WAY too much time on this list.

  1. Quicksilver and Scarlett witch… preferably the regular continuity and not the creepy, incestuous, Ultimates versions. This actually may occur, since Marvel and Fox both own the rights… as long they do not bring up anything about mutants, Magneto, etc.
  2. Joss Whedon to keep directing these movies. I don’t know very many directors who can pull off action with the quippy dialogue and team dynamics that Whedon has done. And though I STILL don’t entirely forgive him for Firefly ripping off the anime series Outlaw Star in certain aspects, I guess I can be considered a Whedonite.
  3. Great Lakes Avengers. Period. Hell, I’d even settle for Squirrel Girl. If she can defeat the likes of Doctor Doom, Thanos, Mandarin, Fin Fang Foom AND and deal with Thule Society soldiers during Fear Itself, I believe she deserves a spot SOMEWHERE in the movies.
  4. Ultron. ‘Nuff said.
  5. If they want to do covert storyline highlighting Black Widow and Hawkeye, do a Secret Avengers/Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kind of movie (along the lines of the Borne movies ). They can even use the sub-plot from Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heores, where Black Widow is a double agent (for either HYDRA or AIM, doesn’t matter).
  6. Again… Squirrel Girl.
