It’s bad enough to have serial killers running around, but when you have one notorious killer bringing others together to form a cult, you have a whole new kind of evil. That’s part of the story that constitutes THE FOLLOWING. Here is part of the Show Page from Fox:
When notorious serial killer JOE CARROLL (James Purefoy, “Rome”) escapes from death row and embarks on a new killing spree, the FBI calls former agent RYAN HARDY (Emmy-nominated actor Kevin Bacon, “X-Men: First Class,” “Frost/Nixon”) to consult on the case. Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture nine years ago, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature.
I like Kevin Bacon. I really appreciated his role of Sebastian Shaw in X-Men: First Class, and I enjoyed his previous works. I’m curious how he will play the lead role is this show. It isn’t Sci-fi or Fantasy, but I find it interesting. Check out the trailer (reload page if it’s not showing up):
What do you think? I find the setup pretty compelling. The cult thing. Bacon’s character Hardy sleeping with Carroll’s wife. Other serial killers popping up. There is a lot there. I don’t know if The Following will connect with audiences, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be boring.
The show is created, written and executive-produced by Kevin Williamson (“Vampire Diaries”, “Scream”) and is also produced by Marcos Siega (“Dexter”, “Vampire Diaries”). It stars Kevin Bacon as Ryan Hardy, James Purefoy as Joe Carroll and Natalie Zea as Claire Matthews. You can check out the Show’s Page Here.
THE FOLLOWING premieres this fall along with the rest of the New Fox lineup.
